Gabriela A. Alcaraz Velasco received her M.Sc. degree in Tropical and International Agriculture at the University of Göttingen (Germany) and her doctorate in Agriculture at the University of Hohenheim (Germany). During her doctorate studies in the field of Rural Development Theory and Policy, she specialized on the topics of poverty, food insecurity, and the food system. At the time of completion of her doctoral degree she worked as research associate and lecturer at the Chair for Gender and Food/Nutrition at the Institute of Social Sciences in Agriculture of the University of Hohenheim.
